Understanding Alopecia Areata (AA)
Alopecia Areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder that causes sudden, patchy hair loss, typically on the scalp but sometimes affecting eyebrows, eyelashes, and body hair. This condition occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, leading to unpredictable cycles of hair loss and regrowth. In some cases, AA progresses to Alopecia Totalis (complete scalp hair loss) or Alopecia Universalis (total body hair loss).
